QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTERING THIS GRADE

Students are required to have completed and passed the Fourth Grade Curriculum before entering Fifth Grade.

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

Our program involves non-denominational Biblical teaching and prayer. A Beka text books are used for math, language, spelling, poetry, and science.  Positive Action for Christ text books are used for Bible.

Reading Program

  • The following books are read throughout the year: Rosa (novel) Noah Webster: A Man Who Loved Words, Beyond the Horizon, Windows to the World, Of America I, and Adventures in Nature.
  • Comprehension Quizzes

Language

  • Parts of Speech.
  • Diagramming.
  • Punctuation.
  • The Writing Process.
  • Research reports and book reports.

Spelling

  • Weekly spelling tests and activities

Penmanship

  • Cursive writing with creative writing.

Bible

  • Hymns/choruses
  • Memory verses
  • Bible doctrine
  • Lessons such as Salvation Series, Genesis, Life of Christ and many more.

 

History: Other Countries
  • Old World History and Geography

Science Camp

Students are all encouraged to attend Science Camp.  It is a Monday through Friday overnight program held at Mt. Herman.
