Requirements For Early Kindergarten

Students are encouraged to know the following before entering Early Kindergarten.

  • Students are encouraged to attend preschool.

  • Familiarity of letters.

  • Familiarity of numbers 1-10.

  • Recognize basic colors.

  • Count 1-10.

 

Early Kindergarten Monthly Field Trips

We take a field trip once a month.  Field trips include:

  • Zoo

  • Planetarium

  • Theater

  • Teddy Bear Factory

  • Many more fun places.

The majority of filed trips are transported by parent volunteers.  We need parent cooperation to drive and chaperone.

Curriculum Overview

Our program involves non-denominational Biblical teaching and prayer.  A Beka text books are used for language, art and Bible.  Houghton Mifflin is used for math and "Why do ducks quack?" for science.

Language
  • Recognition of letters A-Z, both upper & lower case.
  • Writing capital and lower case letters.
  • Vowel and consonant sounds.
  • Short and long vowel sounds.
  • All letter sounds.
  • Letter Blends: ex. ba, be, bi, bo, bu.

Arithmetic

  • Counting 100
  • Recognition of numbers 1-20
  • Graphing
  • Patterns: ABAB, AAB, ABB, ABC
  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Money
  • Time
  • Fractions
  • Shapes

Music

  • Teacher Directed
  • Along with being lead by guiter.

Discipline Plan

We have a daily card system.  The student's goal is to stay on green.  Each color has its reward or consequences.

Red-Unacceptable Behavior

Class Mascot

Our class has a macot.  It is a stuffed animal which gets to go home for the weekend with a child that has shown commendable behavior.
