Welcome to Kindergarten. This is a very special time in your child's life. Thiis is the time when your child establishes the foundation for future school success, and I look forward to being there for him/her every step of the way. |
BEFORE ENTERING KINDERGARTEN
Students are required to know the following before entering Kindergarten:
- Say and recognize ABC’s
- Recognize shapes and colors
- Manipulate beginning sounds of the alphabet
- Print their name, capital and lowercase letters of the alphabet
- Count from 1 to 20
- Distinguish the difference between left and right
CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Our program involves non-denominational Biblical teaching and prayer. A Beka text books are used for math, language, spelling, poetry, and science.
Language Arts: Phonics and Reading
- Recognition of name, sound, and picture of long and short vowels and consonants.
- Sounding of blends, one and two vowel words, and words with special sounds.
- Beginning phonics rules and special sounds
- Reading of sentences and stories from twelve books containing one and two vowel words and special sounds

- Recognition of sentences by capital letters and periods

CONTACT MS. KIPHUTH

Ms. Heidi Kiphuth was born and raised in Minnesota, where she received her Elementary Education Degree at Crown College. She has been teaching for over 7 years. This is her first year at Sunnyvale Christian School. She is a member of Crosswalk Community Church and is currently on the missions team. She has been on 2 mission trips to the Ukraine and loves working with the orphans there.
