THIRD GRADE

3rd grade is a milestone year, rich with academic, social and personal growth for children. This year I will strive to provide students with academic knowledge, social responsibility, and effective study skills.


BEFORE ENTERING THIRD GRADE

Students are required to have completed and passed the Second Grade Curriculum before entering Third Grade.


CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

Our program involves inter-denominational Biblical teaching and prayer. A Beka text books are used for math, language, spelling, poetry, and science.  Positive Action for Christ text books are use for Bible.

Reading Program

  • The following books are read throughout the year: Paths to Adventure, Footprints, Crossroads, Pilgrim Boy (novel), Secret in the Maple Tree (novel), Better Bridges, Worlds of Wonder, and Pilgrim’s Progress
  • Comprehension Quizzes

Spelling

  • Weekly spelling tests and activities

Penmanship

  • Cursive writing with creative writing

Arithmetic

  • Whole numbers
  • Measures (Metric and English)

Mrs. Brenda Rodriguez was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in La Mirada, California.  She has been teaching elementary students since 1999.  Mrs. Rodriguez and her husband and two children currently attended Calvary Chapel San Jose.  "God has called me to teach here at Sunnyvale Christian School and I am excited to teach the third grade this year!"
